Best places for a Sunday brunch in Cologne

Sundays are for enjoying – and what could be better than a hearty brunch? Whether in the middle of Cologne, along the Rhine or in great locations in the surrounding area: we’ve gone in search of the best brunch spots for relaxed Sundays. From classic to creative, urban to rural – here are our favorite places for an enjoyable start to your Sunday.
Club Astoria
The brunch classic at the Adenauer Weiher with a great view
If you love an extended brunch on Sundays, with a huge selection, then head to Club Astoria! From 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. you can enjoy an amazing buffet there every week. The buffet offers everything and more! You can help yourself to a rich selection of breakfast classics, slurp oysters and have fresh egg dishes prepared at the cooking station.
From lunchtime, there is also a large selection of hot dishes, as well as a waffle station, various desserts and a self-service ice cream counter. Coffee, tea, juice and Prosecco are also included in the price. We think the price-performance ratio at Club Astoria is fantastic, and the service is fast and courteous.
A well-rounded experience and we can only warmly recommend a visit. In addition, there is the beautiful location in the middle of the city forest at the Adenauer Weiher, which invites you to take a (probably well needed) walk afterwards. We recommend to book a table early.
St. Louis, Meister-Gerhard-Str. 30, 50674 Cologne
Leonardo Royal
Lazy Sunday Brunch at the Leonardo Royal Köln am Stadtwald with a view of the water
Sunday morning starts at 11:30 a.m. with a champagne reception in the hotel lobby. Here you can take a deep breath, arrive relaxed and enjoy the first small delicacies from the canapé selection.
After the welcome prosecco, you move on to the Vitruv restaurant, where the brunch buffet is served until 2:30 pm. Whether you’re into classic breakfast dishes, want to try hot main courses or simply want to plunder the dessert selection, it’s all there. And all with a view of the water, which makes brunch that little bit better.
And the best thing? Tea, coffee, house wine, beer, mineral water and juices – all included: for 45 euros per person. And children up to the age of 12 eat for free! This makes the brunch at the Leonardo Royal the clear price-performance winner for us if you are traveling with children.
Café Buur, Cologne Richard-Wagner-Straße 28, 50674 Cologne
Giglio’s RistoBar
Italian brunch dream in Cologne-Ehrenfeld
Anyone who has ever brunched at Gilio’s in Cologne-Ehrenfeld knows that breakfast here is a little trip to Italy – but without a plane ticket. It’s not a run-of-the-mill brunch, but a lovingly orchestrated mix of Italian-inspired specialties, delicious surprises and lots of “Wow, how beautiful does that look?”.
What makes Gilio’s one of our absolute favorite spots: the extraordinary selection. Instead of the usual “another bread roll with cheese”, you can expect lovingly prepared Italian specialties that have nothing to do with a standard buffet. Antipasti, pizza, delicious pasta variations and other hot dishes, a few breakfast classics and lots of sweet dolci – simply delicious.
In short: if you want an exceptional brunch, Gilio’s is a must. A one hundred percent tip for a visit. Not just for Italy fans.
Giglio’s RistoBar, Venloer Str. 406-408, 50825 Cologne
Mongo’s
Unusual Asian brunch in Cologne-Deutz
Mongos in is more lunch-oriented and does not offer classic breakfast dishes. Instead, there is a large selection of Asian starters, fresh salads and a noodle soup bar. The station where you can put together your own bowl is particularly exciting. This is then freshly prepared on the grill and served directly at the table – a real highlight for all those who like to actively participate in the meal and love fresh, hot dishes.
For those with a sweet tooth, there will be a waffle station and a small dessert buffet. So sweet tooths are well catered for! The ambience is modern and inviting, ideal for a relaxed Sunday lunch or a special brunch with friends or family.

Potpurri
Cozy Sunday brunch at the Altenberger Hof in Cologne-Nippes
An extensive brunch experience at Potpourri is the perfect start to the day or a great opportunity to enjoy a meal with friends and family. The buffet offers a variety of delicacies to suit every taste.
Fresh pancakes and eggs, prepared straight from the kitchen, ensure the perfect moment of indulgence. The quality of the food is particularly noteworthy. The eggs come from happy hens, which stands for fresh and sustainable products. The sausage comes from the Eifel region, which underlines the regional connection and quality.
The buffet, which is not too large but lovingly prepared, invites you to discover new taste sensations. For a special welcome, there is a welcome sparkling wine to make the brunch even more festive. Children are also very welcome and receive a hot chocolate or freshly squeezed orange juice as a welcome drink. We particularly liked the beautiful location in the old farm house. Great terrace for sitting outside in summer.
Café de Paris Cologne, Benesisstraße 61, 50672 Cologne
Krewelshof
Cozy adventure farm in the Eifel and in Lohmar
The Krewelshof (we went to the Eifel branch) offers a lovingly designed late riser breakfast buffet, which is open on Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 13:00. Guests can look forward to coffee, various breakfast drinks, water, tea and hot chocolate. For a savory treat, there are sausage and cheese platters, including from our own farm cheese dairy, as well as a raw food station, hot eggs and bacon, muesli, homemade fruit salad, soy alternatives and various milk options. The buffet also includes yogurts made from their own dairy, fresh bread and rolls from their own bakery, apple pancakes, homemade sheet cakes and a candy bar.
A glass of sparkling wine is served as a welcome drink. It is important to know that this breakfast is more breakfast-oriented and does not offer extensive hot lunch dishes. It is perfect for a relaxed start to the day. However, the farm itself offers many other activities for children, a small lake and a large farm store where regional products and specialties can be discovered. All in all, the Krewelshof invites you to start the day in a relaxed and enjoyable way with its cozy ambience and rich presentation.
